About Anne Carlisle Gatts

I know that this is the section where a professional writer is supposed to write about themselves in third person listing all their awards and professional accomplishments. Honestly, I’m not the kind of person who generally goes around talking about herself using anything other than regular old pronouns. And even though I am a published writer, my midwestern mother taught me not to bore others with how great I think I am. That’s seemed to work out pretty well for me, so I think I’ll just stick to it.

One of the reasons I chose to start blogging was to have a regular outlet for writing. Having a self-imposed deadline of a weekly blog has been a really great way for me to keep creatively engaged in the written word beyond the normal scope of my teacher’s day. It’s especially awesome because no red pens are involved. All  kidding aside, the most important reason was to follow the call that Jesus has on my life to give encouragement and hope to others. I’ve been a teacher in the public school system for twenty-five years and God continually gives me opportunities to see the face of Jesus in those little ones.

Until very recently I led contemporary worship in the United Methodist Church. After over fifteen years of getting to lead music with the most awesome praise band on the face of the earth (some may argue this point, but this is my “About” section so I get to say what I want) I have found my place on a comfy pew with my best friend who also happens to be my husband. We are empty-nesters after thirty years of marriage and have three wonderful children and two salt of the earth son-in-laws. I am also “Gigi” to the apples-of-my-eye and melters-of-my-heart grandsons, Isaiah and Luke.

God is leading me down a new path of ministry of writing and speaking, especially to women. I am currently involved in leading a series of conferences titled “Being a Woman After God’s Own Heart”.
